FARMER'S MARKET ASSISTANT (MAY - OCTOBER)
ABOUT THE POSITION
Reunity Farm is hiring 1 part time additional market staff for our 2021 Saturday market. This position is responsible for set-up, operation and take-down of our booth at the Santa Fe Farmer's Market at the Railyard. This position will entail approximately 8-10 hours per weekend, with the potential for additional hours depending on fit. This position runs from mid-May through late October.
Job duties for Market Assistants include: set-up and take down of our booth at the Railyard each Saturday morning, provide high-quality and quick service to shoppers by answering questions, handling produce, and making sales. Market Assistants are expected to have a thorough understanding of Reunity Resources' mission, programs, and the farm's growing practices to effectively communicate with the public about the organization and represent Reunity Resources. Staff is expected to maintain our solid record keeping practices during and after market.
Work hours on Saturdays typically start around 5 AM and end anytime after 3 PM (a 10-hour day). The shift begins at the farm for truck load-up and runs the duration of the open hours of the Farmer's Market, and ends after all produce and market materials are unloaded, put away and/or replaced and all record keeping/ inventory is finished. Unsold produce will often be packed up by market staff for designated donation outlets. Market Assistants are required to work the entire shift and may not leave either the market or the farm early.
COMPENSATION
This is an hourly, part time position, $13/hr, plus farm produce

SEASONAL FARM CREW (APRIL - OCTOBER)

The farm is 1.5 acres in cultivation and is a highly-trafficked area by visitors and volunteers. We focus on growing diverse vegetables for sale at our on-site farm stand, online pre-order produce bags, farmers market, and to restaurants involved in our food collection program. We offer a flexible CSA adjacent ‘Farm Card’ option for shoppers, and donate weekly to numerous hunger relief partners. The farm is also home to a small orchard and a growing number of food-bearing perennials.
Reunity Farm is hiring 1-2 farm crew members for the 2021 season – our third year in production! This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the farm manager to establish and cement long-lasting systems. Farm Crew works directly alongside the Farm Manager, and is responsible for all field and production tasks, including greenhouse seeding, field seeding, field transplanting, cultivation, harvest and packing. There is opportunity for more responsibility and independent work depending on candidate’s interests and experience. Prior farming experience is not required, but a genuine interest in hard work is expected.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Work directly with farm manager and other staff and crew members on farm and production tasks including, but not limited to: greenhouse work, bed and field prep, planting, seeding, hand weeding and cultivating, harvesting, sorting, washing and packing, and general farm maintenance
- Direct to customer sales via on-site farm stand and/or farmer’s market
- Lead and work alongside drop-in volunteers, community college interns, and/or volunteer groups in various tasks
- Watering/farm chores on a rotational weekend schedule
- Opportunities for cross-organizational experience with community partners via Santa Fe County food projects and the Agua Fria Full Circle Farm project
- Participate in organizational workshops and events as appropriate and be an active participant in a supportive and growth-oriented company culture
- Always be working toward the farm and non-profit’s long term vision and goals
IDEAL CANDIDATES POSSESS/ARE CAPABLE OF
- Comfortable interacting with visitors to the farm and communicating directions as needed. This is a very public farm with a lot of direct interaction with volunteers, interns and work-traders. Crew members must be able to adequately explain tasks, help guide individuals as necessary while maintaining typical farm pace set during training period. A cheery, friendly disposition and willingness to work with a variety of folks and experience levels is required.
- Ability to maintain a positive, engaged attitude and an interest in engaging in clear, successful communication and feedback. We look for folks who can ask good questions and for clarification when they need it. Participation in goal setting and weekly planning meetings is encouraged.
- Punctuality and a high level of quality and attention to detail while maintaining pace is required.
- An ability to consistently and efficiently perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks in all types of weather conditions, including lifting up to 50# regularly.
- An ability to work independently, at pace, as well as part of a small team; teamwork is a requirement for this position – we are a small, tight crew and it is imperative that crew members can see gaps and jump in to fill them. Ideal candidates are self-motivated, attentive and adaptable.
