Joe Hayes Storytelling
Sundays | July 13th, 20th, 27th and August 3rd | 7pm-8pm | Reunity Resources Farm | FREE SHOWS Joe Hayes is one of America's premier storytellers—a nationally recognized and awarded teller of tales from the Hispanic, Native American and Anglo cultures. His bilingual Spanish-English tellings have earned him a distinctive place among America's storytellers. Born in Pennsylvania, Joe Hayes moved as a child to a small town in southern Arizona, some fifty miles from the Mexican border. Joe later moved to New Mexico in 1976; he gathered traditional stories of the Southwest, added a little of his own spice, and hit the road, traveling all over to share his stories. He has captured the imagination of children in schools all over the United States. We are delighted to have him back once again this summer at Reunity Farm for another great series of storytelling nights! |

Vandoliers
July 12th | 7pm | Reunity Resources Farm FREE SHOW For the uninitiated, even the most melancholy Vandoliers song has a degree of exuberance and verve, Texas Country meets Punk Rock, full of an irrepressible energy that has led the band to tour with everyone from Flogging Molly to the Turnpike Troubadours to fellow Dallas-Fort Worth natives the Toadies and the Old 97s. Songs like pandemic anthem (only Vandoliers could make those two words fit together) "Every Saturday Night," "Cigarettes in the Rain," "Sixteen Years" and their irresistible take on the Proclaimers' "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" have helped the band find a devoted following across the world, fans who pack out shows that are always life-affirming! |
David Berkley
July 26th | 7pm | Reunity Resources Farm FREE SHOW “Berkeley crafts his songs like watercolor paintings. Intimate and introspective, his gentle yet colorful melodies are graceful and resonate long after the last note fades.” ––Creative Loafing David Berkeley’s gift as a songwriter and storyteller is that he sees the tragedy and comedy in life, writing songs capable of both breaking and healing the heart. Berkeley has been called a “musical poet,” by the San Francisco Chronicle, and the New York Times praises his “lustrous, melancholy voice with shades of Tim Buckley and Nick Drake.” That voice and his gift with words is what first sets Berkeley apart from all other guitar-slinging songwriters. But it is his onstage charisma and unparalleled between-song repartee that truly puts him in a class by himself. Each show is completely unique, and David’s humanity shines through every note he sings and every word he speaks. |
Hot Buttered Rum
August 16th | 7pm | Reunity Resources Farm FREE SHOW Hot Buttered Rum gets its hands dirty planting songs with roots in Appalachia and branches in California. Five-string banjo and five-alarm fiddle dovetail with doghouse bass to frame the voices of the sextet’s two busy songwriters. Twenty years in, with fresh mud under its fingernails, HBR’s driven, danceable music continues to find its way into the hearts of fans nationwide. “Few things rejuvenate the soul like a warm fireside drink after an exhausting day in the snow. Hot Buttered Rum has that effect. Their original songs are instantly familiar and inviting.” ––San Francisco Chronicle |
A Hawk and A Hacksaw
August 23rd | 7pm | Reunity Resources Farm FREE SHOW A Hawk and a Hacksaw is an American folk duo from Albuquerque, New Mexico. The band consists of accordionist Jeremy Barnes, who was previously the drummer for Neutral Milk Hotel and Bablicon, and violinist Heather Trost. Their music is inspired by Eastern European, Turkish and Balkan traditions, featuring sustained instrumentals. This pair has toured extensively around the world, and they have learned from and collaborated with some of the great musicians of Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and Turkey. In 2011, Hawk and A Hacksaw started their own label, Living Music Duplication, releasing albums by the great Turkish clarinetist Cüneyt Sepetçi, Romanian village band Bahto Delo Delo, among many others. “So ebullient and full of character that by the time it’s over you feel like you’ve caught a glimpse of the type of joyful festivity that always feels most rewarding after a long journey.” ––Pitchfork |
